Américo de Sousa Lopes (Tomé) founded in the mid-1940s the company that is now known by his name – ASL Tomé.
The wine begins to be sold in barrels to various establishments in the Setúbal district. The 4th generation of the family is now on the management.
In 1992, Carlos Branco and Nuno Branco established the Alto da Cascalheira table wine brand. Ten years later, in 2002, the two brothers created the Cascalheira – Terras do Sado Regional Wine range, as it was called at the time.
In 2011, the ASL Tomé winery was included in the Setúbal Peninsula Wine Route.
Cascalheira wines are awarded with gold and silver. Highlight for the gold medals in the National Wine Contest with Cascalheira Syrah and Cascalheira 3 Castas, in the Setúbal Peninsula Wine Contest.
The winery now has a space for wine tourism with the WineBar Adega Velha and an Art Gallery. One of the most wanted experiences is the “picnic” in the vine. A must try experience!
Wine tasting, painting, photography and handicraft exhibitions, theatre, theme parties and live music are some of the regular events at Quinta da Cascalheira.
The ASL Tomé winery continues to grow but the focus will always be on making honest wines with personality.

Wines made from our vineyards planted in the Pinhal Novo region where native varieties such as Castelão, Fernão Pires and Moscatel intersect with new international varieties such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and, more recently, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Franca and Aragonez. Pairings that characterize the wines produced at Quinta da Cascalheira.
