In the mid-1950s, António Ribeiro and his wife Maria do Céu began their agricultural project with the acquisition of Quinta de S. Tiago, with its 18th century manor house, in the parish of Vila Marim, and Quinta da Portela, in the parish of Barqueiros, near the first Pombaline landmark marking the beginning of the Douro Demarcated Region. Both in the municipality of Mesão Frio.
In 1980, one of their daughters, Teresinha Ribeiro, married to Eduardo Miranda, began the work of reconverting the vineyards on the properties that a few years later, through inheritance and purchase, would be their fortune.
With jobs outside the agricultural sector, the strategy adopted was to sell the produce to export houses and make small quantities for local consumption and in bulk.
Then came their sons Roberto, Ricardo, Rafael and Rudolfo, who progressively completed their academic training, mostly in management and viticulture.

To achieve this goal, they acquired Quinta de Sequeirós in Loureiro, where the winery is located; Quinta d'Além Tanha in Cima Corgo (vineyards over forty years old) and, lastly and most recently, Quinta do Farfão, a valuable property in the Upper Douro.

It is the family's feeling that the conditions are right for producing sublime nectars, representative of the best that can be obtained from the Douro's disparate vineyards.

The first trial now arrives on the market, for the consumer's tasting pleasure, under the name “MÃOS”, in analogy to the laborious work from the vineyards to the bottle, to the concept that guides the constitution of the family business and hand in hand towards the future and excellence.
