According to the Artistic Inventory of Portugal (1966,Lisbon) by Túlio Espanca, “not before the 1st quarter of the 17th century and was build on royal lands where, for centuries, the wine of farm São José de Peramanca has been experimented with using famous fruits, which is mentioned in 16th- century chronicles and was widely exported by Portuguese fleets in search of overseas lands.”
