Collection: Quinta da Furada

Furada is a Quinta that belongs to the same family for at least seven generations. The current descendants are great-grandchildren of his heir Valério Augusto de Sousa who saw his first son born in the houses, in 1919, still inhabited today. Born in 1888, he often said that his wife had inherited the current houses with surrounding vineyards and olive groves from her grandparents but that, and at the will of Filoxera, he added 24 more lots himself, by purchasing from 24 small neighboring owners, then disappointed with the effects of this almost fatal disease for the Douro.

Thus extending the Quinta da Furada, which since then remains one, keeping secrets, stories, flavors and mysteries. The name "Furada" comes from the many ancient holes and excavations in the soil still found today and that have always been attributed to the search for precious metals since at least the passage of the Romans through the territory, in search of gold and more recently of wolfram. We have no doubt that the great preciousness of the Quinta flourishes from the soil every year and that it is its fruits, especially the grapes and olives that constitute the weight arguments with which the blessed Pata D'Urso Douro Wines, Furada Ports and Furada Olive Oil are born.
