At Viúva Gomes we lay our passion on the wines we create. These are an extension of our personality, personal taste and faiths. We in believe in genuine wines, attached to the surrounding land and promote free winemaking.

Today a project of father and son, 4th and 5th generation of the family, the main focus is to protect the Region of Colares. Committed on maintaining our wines as classics, respecting the long path that brought us here. Nevertheless, we keep a creative mind for new discoveries. We love to explore and craft, assuring the sense of place of this singular wine-growing region.

Adega Viúva Gomes, established in 1808, is located in Almoçageme inside Colares’ wine growing region. A unique terroir in the coastal area of Sintra. Between the hills and the Atlantic Ocean.

From the Cape of Roca until Magoito, with altitudes between 30m and 200m, bounded on the west by steep cliffs above the ocean. It is observed a joint of a semiarid climate on the coast and a moderate humid climate towards Sintra’s hills. These are responsible for the microclimate, blocking north winds and promoting the raise of sea humidity.
