Barbeito 20 Anos Malvasia

Founded in 1946 by grandfather Mário Barbeito de Vasconcelos, Vinhos Barbeito has always been managed by family members.

At the time of its founding, there were over 30 companies producing and exporting Madeira wine. Step by step, grandfather Mário gained clients in many countries, always striving to build solid, close relationships with them; indeed, some current clients and suppliers date back to his era.

In 1985, his daughter Manuela de Vasconcelos took over the company's management—having already worked at Vinhos Barbeito since 1976—thereby continuing the legacy.

The first 20-year-old Malvasia was produced in 2001; this release represents the eighth batch created since then. Crafting this wine is always a tremendous challenge and a profound exercise in reflection. From wines that eventually run out, new ones are born—such as this Malvasia, Batch 14050, aged in French oak casks using the *Canteiro* method. It offers an exuberant yet restrained nose, followed by an explosion of elegant flavors and a distinctive, lingering acidity on the finish. A total of 1,061 individually numbered bottles were produced.
