The Madeira Barbeito Boal Frasqueira 1982 is one of those rare expressions that only time, patience, and precision can create. Produced from Boal grapes sourced from several excellent vineyards in the Campanário area, this wine is born of traditional winemaking—involving continuous pressing and the halting of fermentation through the addition of 96% grape spirit—thereby preserving the grape variety's natural sweetness and unmistakable aromatic profile.
The story of this Frasqueira gains depth through its evolution in cask: following the initial bottling in 2007, the remaining wine was carefully transferred to old French oak casks. These were filled only halfway and placed in the highest sections of the warehouses, right beneath the roof. These extreme conditions of heat and evaporation fostered exceptional concentration, intensifying the wine's texture, acidity, and aromatic complexity. In February 2012, 1,050 individually numbered bottles were finally released, sealing the unique character of this edition.
In the glass, it reveals depth and elegance, with intense, evolved notes that interplay between dried fruit, caramel, orange peel, and fine wood. Vibrant acidity balances the noble sweetness, resulting in a harmonious, long-lasting Madeira—perfect for savoring slowly.
Excellent as a digestif, it shines alongside desserts or intense cheeses, or simply as a "meditation wine"—a true sensory journey into the legacy and mastery of Barbeito.
