Maria Antonieta Red, an elegant and complex wine from the Montargil region of Portalegre, Alentejo. This organic wine, a tribute to the family matriarch, is produced exclusively with Touriga Nacional grapes, grown in pebble soils that enhance the variety's delicacy and unique character. The proximity to the Montargil Dam creates a cool, humid microclimate, ideal for the grapes' full development.
Vinification involves careful manual harvesting, with complete destemming and light crushing, followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures. The wine ages for 23 months in used French oak barrels, gaining complexity and a polished structure.
On the palate, Maria Antonieta Red reveals aromas of red fruit, sour cherry, and ripe plum, complemented by hints of licorice and well-integrated oak. On the palate, it is dense and elegant, with firm tannins and a fresh finish. Ideal with meat, game, cheese, and sausage dishes, this wine reveals itself even more when decanted beforehand. A true Alentejo treasure that promises to enrich any table.
