The Portalegre DOC Alentejo White Wine 2023 renews the celebration of the centuries-old vineyards and the diversity of grape varieties of the Serra de São Mamede. Like its predecessors, this wine has the noble mission of reflecting the tradition and ancestry of the region, highlighting the fresh, tense and elegant character that the altitude confers on this unique terroir.
The vinification of this batch involves a rigorous manual selection of the best grapes from old vines. This is followed by gentle pressing and natural fermentation, without the addition of yeasts. This process takes place in 500-liter French oak barrels and small vats, culminating in aging on the fine lees for 10 months, which gives it greater complexity and texture.
TASTING NOTES
It presents a complex and elegant nose, where notes of white fruit, grapefruit, brioche and floral hints stand out. On the palate it reveals itself as bold, with great volume and a fresh, tense and mouthwatering structure. The finish is long, resulting in a very complete wine with enormous gastronomic potential.
HOW TO SERVE
It should be served at a temperature between 7ºC and 12ºC. It is the ideal accompaniment to oven-baked fish, fish stew, fish and seafood rice, cod, octopus and poultry. Its versatility also extends to Japanese and Italian cuisine, as well as homemade sausages and strong cheeses.
GRAPE VARIETIES
Bical and Old Vines.
