Collection: Colares Wines

Colares is a miracle of survival. In the sand dunes between Sintra and the Atlantic grow some of the only ungrafted European vines on earth — phylloxera, the pest that destroyed the world's vineyards, cannot live in sand. Ramisco reds and Malvasia whites from these vines are unlike anything else in wine: saline, structured and almost immortal.

Production is minuscule, the vineyards protected like monuments. To drink Colares is to taste pre-phylloxera Europe — a living piece of history. Our selection includes bottles from the historic Adega Regional and the tiny producers keeping this legend alive.
