HISTORY

Anselmo Mendes and Mário Sérgio Nuno

constitute two unavoidable references

among the wines of Portugal. Long friends

They share a taste for the land and vines.

In its regions of origin, Monção and

Melgaço and Bairrada, create genuine wines,

wines without disguises, wines that express the

territory that saw them born.

These affinities led, one day, to a

natural question: why not make one

wine together, from the varieties that most

Do we like it? Thus, in the 2020 harvest

decided, each in their vineyards, to choose

a special portion, representative of the

the best that the region can produce and vinify

separately in their cellars. Anselmo

Mendes selected Alvarinho from Parcela do

Paço, in Quinta da Torre, in Monção. Mario

Sérgio harvested the Bical grapes from Vinha do

Cabeço, in Quinta das Bágeiras.

GRAPES AND WINE

Alvarinho and Bical are two excellent grape varieties,

adapted to temperate climates influenced

Atlantic. Alvarinho from Quinta da Torre

arises in the soil of river terraces with origin

granite. The Bical of Quinta das Bágeiras

grows in clayey soil with strong

limestone component.

The musts fermented in used barrels

of French oak, 400 liters in the case of

Alvarinho and 500 liters in the case of Bical.

Both aged for 9 months in barrels. AND

in June 2021, Bical produced in

Bairrada traveled to Anselmo's wine cellar

Mendes, in Melgaço, where he joined the

Alvarinho, in equal proportion, with the lot being

bottled shortly afterwards.

The result? A wine of enormous elegance

and mineral and fruity expression, served by a

excellent acid balance that bodes well for you

long life in the bottle.
